Blinky:  Animation Curtain Effect




This is an easy to use tutorial on making a blinky (or a tag) using the Curtain Effect in Animation Shop

To do this, follow these directions:

1. Open two canvases in PSP the same size.  The top layer that slides back and forth was created on one canvas.  The stationery layer below was created on another canvas the same size.  (This may also be done on one canvas if you are competent with cutting layers on and off as needed.) Create a simple tag on each canvas.



2.  Copy each tag and paste each one in Animation Shop as separate animations.

3.  To begin the animation, click the tag that is on top and splits open.

4.  Go to Effects>Insert Image Transition




4. Using the setting you see below, click OK.

  

5.  This creates 24 frames for your top animation.  Test it by going to View>Animation.  Now take your other tag and duplicate the frame until you have 24 frames.  View>Animation

6.  For both animations:  Click in frame 1.  Then Click Edit>Select All

7.  Now you are ready to drag the top animation on top of the bottom animation.  To do so, click in the middle of frame one of top animation and do not release.  Drag it over and align it on the top of the bottom animation.  When it is correctly placed, release it.  View>Animation.

Optional:
8. If you notice, now the curtains are just opening and slamming shut.  They are not sliding back gently.  To make them slide back to shut, go to Edit>Select All.  Then Edit>Duplicate.  When I do this I get 46 frames.

9. Next, select frames 25 thru 46.  Go to Animation>Reverse Frames.  View Animation to test it.

10. Save it and you are done.
